Message from our CEO

February 2011

Advancing Patient Care for Our Community

Catskill Regional Medical Center’s mission statement is to improve the health of our community by providing exceptional health care, and our vision is to be the best community hospital in New York State by providing outstanding service to all. We are dedicated to our mission and vision, and with the leadership of our community-based Board of Directors, our exceptional staff, our advanced technology and our relationship with the Greater Hudson Valley Health System, we are advancing patient care for our community and making great strides toward achieving our goals.

Last year, we launched a number of projects and initiatives to increase the level of service we provide to the community, and to improve patient and employee satisfaction. Some of our key accomplishments in 2010 include:

  • Becoming the lead agency for the Rape Intervention Services and Education (RISE) program of Sullivan County
  • Adding a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner at the Harris campus
  • Breaking ground and beginning construction on our new Emergency Department
  • Adding four new community-based board members to our Board of Directors
  • Opening the Livingston Manor Family Health Center, providing primary care services to northern Sullivan County
  • Launching an internal newsletter to increase transparency and staff satisfaction

2011 will be a very exciting year for Catskill Regional Medical Center, as we have many projects on the horizon. In the coming year and beyond, we plan to introduce a variety of enhancements, including:

  • An increased focus on patient and staff satisfaction
  • Completing our new Emergency Department, which will more than double the size of our current department (construction is due to be completed by the fall)
  • Adding telemetry equipment, which provides wireless bedside monitoring for patients
  • Adding Wi-Fi and wireless IV pumps at our Harris campus
  • The construction of a new diagnostic center in Monticello, which will include digital mammography, bone densitometry, ultrasound and radiology services
  • A major expansion at Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon, to include expanded primary care services, a diagnostic center including a CT scanner, digital mammography, bone densitometry and ultrasound
  • Adding a new state-of-the-art MRI to the Harris campus
  • Purchasing a computerized tomographic angiography (CTA) software package for our 64-Slice CT scanner, which can non-invasively assess the arteries and veins in most parts of the body, including the heart

As we continue on our mission of improving the health of our community by providing exceptional health care, we are always looking at our organization to see how we can improve patient satisfaction and services. Our employees play a vital role in our success, as they will enable us to reach our vision of being the best community hospital in New York by providing outstanding service to all.
